Recycling

We've all been there. Those pairs of sunglasses or old prescription glasses that you've not found a home for, still hiding away in a drawer or shoe box.

Do something positive with your old or unwanted eyewear through our recycling scheme*.

Recycling scheme open to all Bird Eyewear stockists with an active account. Subject to fair usage policy*

Recycle Boxes

For us, sustainability is more than a fancy slogan or a trend - it's about taking positive action.

We have created co-branded recycling boxes, that are designed to help your staff and customers recycled old or unwanted frames.

Our recycling boxes are perfect for customer-facing areas.

How Does It Work?

It's super simple to get started. Simply use the request link above and email a high-resolution logo to hello@birdeyewear.co.uk.

Who can apply?

A Bird Eyewear stockist with a new or active account can request a recycling box for their business. Don't have an account? Apply today!

For new accounts, Recycling Boxes are free of charge with your Bird Eyewear Starter Set.

For existing accounts, recycling boxes are free of charge for all accounts that have placed an order in the past 12 months.

How much does it cost?

Our Recycling Boxes are completely free of charge. We cover the cost of printing, production and postage for all of our stockists. We even cover the cost of returning your old frames back to Bird Eyewear HQ. We will continue to recycle all old frames for as long as your business holds an active Bird Eyewear account.

How long does it take to arrive?

Boxes are designed within 3 working days of receipt of your logo. Once we have the design complete, the printing, production and delivery takes approximately 10 working days.

What happens to the old frames?

We are working with charity partners including Amigos Worldwide, who operate an established training academy based in Kampala. Access to good quality eyewear is extremely limited and donations from the recycle scheme directly benefit the trainees there.

Where frames cannot be reused or repurposed, we endeavour to recycle them into new sustainable optical products.

What brand of frames can I recycle?

Any! It doesn't matter if the frames are Bird or any other manufacture.

How many frames can I send to you?

We are able to accept up to 10kg of frames per practice, every 6 months.

Can you take sunglasses?

Yes, no problem at all. In fact, non-rx sunglasses are most in demand by our charity partners.

What condition do the frames need to be?

We can take frames of all condition even if they are broken.

What about lenses?

We are able to recycle frames that have lenses in place (RX, sun or plano), however we are unable to utilise old lenses that are not included in the frame.

Can you recycle cases?

Unfortunately, we cannot recycle cases. The majority of cases in production are mass produced using non-recyclable material. This is why we created our Zero Waste Case.

Should I put frames in bags?

No, please ensure that frames are loose as we are only able to recycle frames.

How do I get old frames to you?

Simply send an email to hello@birdeyewear.co.uk and request a pre-paid returns label.

Once you have received your labels, simply decant the unwanted frames from your co-branded recycling box into standard cardboard boxes. Attach you labels to the box and visit any Royal Mail Post Office to send your frames back to;
